Living in San Francisco from 1967 to 1975, I remember the Uptights well, as they were always playing some soul show in Oakland, sometimes backing other artists. These shows were always hyped heavily on the two Bay Area AM soul stations, KDIA and KSOL (where Sly Stone was a DJ before he broke big with the Family Stone).
